Our Story

A No Kill rescue with a big heart — and a growing mission

How We Started

From Rescue to Sanctuary

Stray Cat Haven began as a small No Kill rescue in Scott County, Minnesota, focused on saving homeless, abandoned, and at-risk cats and kittens. We successfully placed 40+ cats in loving forever homes.

Over time, our mission evolved. We found ourselves caring for cats that other rescues couldn't take — special needs cats, FIV-positive cats, and cats that may never be adoptable. These cats deserve safety and comfort for the rest of their lives, and we're committed to giving them exactly that.

Where We Are Today

At Capacity

Currently our rescue is full. We're unable to take in new cats at this time, but we continue to care for each and every cat in our network of foster homes.

Lifetime Care

We provide veterinary care, food, and a safe environment for cats that may never find adoptive homes — for as long as they need us.

FIV+ Advocates

We champion FIV-positive cats who are often overlooked or euthanized at traditional shelters. They deserve love too.

100% Volunteer

We are entirely volunteer-run. Every dollar donated goes directly to the care of our cats.

Our Dream: A Real Sanctuary

We envision a dedicated property with professional amenities — spacious rooms, outdoor enclosures, a medical area, and enough room to rescue even more cats. With the right space, we can expand our mission and save more lives.

Help make it happen

Our No Kill Promise

We never euthanize for space or convenience. Every cat in our care stays with us for life, no matter what. That's a promise.
